How much time did you spend on your last social event for your company? Maybe it was a company picnic or a holiday party. Just maybe the event was in recognition and celebration of a major milestone the company and its employees achieved.
Sticking with this event, how far in advance did you begin planning? What were the total number of company hours were spent on planning? Finally, how many dollars did you spend?
I would hope you would say the event was worth it because, I am going to ask you if you spent more time and money on this one event than you did on emergency planning last year? If you are like most businesses, you did devote more time and energy to the social event. Why is that?
I am going to assume you already understand the need for doing a business emergency plan. I don't want to rehash that argument. You get it. But, why haven't you done one? It could be any number of reasons -- all good -- such as:
- there is no one on staff to not only create the plan but then maintain it
- you already do a daily backup of your computer system so you feel that is adequate for a company of your size
- maybe your employees are already doing the job of 3 people
- you feel nothing will happen to you.
In YOUR BUSINESS, Interrupted, you will learn how to write a customized, comprehensive, simple plan of action for your company to prepare before an event occurs and that will get you through that recovery after it does happen.
